About Colquitt Regional Medical Center
Welcome to Colquitt Regional Medical Center in Moultrie, Georgia. Our hospital is a 99-bed acute care hospital serving Colquitt, Cook, Worth, Mitchell, Tift and Thomas counties.
Colquitt Regional is conveniently located near the intersection of South Main Street and U.S. 319 on the southeast side of Moultrie where it is easily accessible from all directions. The hospital is served by more than 60 physicians who practice in 30 specialties, including oncology, cardiology and gastroenterology.
Over the years, Colquitt Regional has been recognized for its high level of patient satisfaction and was cited in 2009 ranking in the top 15 percent of hospitals nationwide for overall patient satisfaction. Colquitt Regional, which was awarded the 2008 Georgia Hospital Association Leadership Award for its role in improving the overall healthcare of the community, was reaccredited in 2009 by the Joint Commission.
The hospital was founded in 1939 as Vereen Memorial Hospital when local citizens, on the heels of The Great Depression, answered a challenge by one of Moultrie’s leading businessmen – W.J. Vereen – to match his $50,000 gift and to build the hospital. Over the next three decades, the hospital outgrew its facility and in 1975 ground was broken on the present facility. Over the next few years, as the hospital’s services extended into the surrounding counties, the name was changed to Colquitt Regional Medical Center.
Colquitt Regional Medical Center is governed by the Colquitt County Hospital Authority which is made up of nine board members appointed by the Colquitt County Council to serve nine-year terms. The Colquitt Regional Medical Foundation is a non-profit corporation established for the benefit and support of the hospital. The Foundation raises and invests funds and directs the use of those funds to underwrite the long-term needs of the hospital.
