Patients and Visitors
Community Notice
Due to the H1N1 flu (swine flu) cases in our area, Colquitt Regional Medical Center's Emergency Management Committee has implemented strict visitation policy effective July 1, 2009. As part of our H1N1 (Swine Flu) response plan and to ensure the well being of all patients and visitors, Colquitt Regional Medical Center is implementing and enforcing a strict patient visitation policy. Regular visiting hours are from 9 a.m until 9 p.m and all visitors must sign in at the main information desk. No children will be permitted to visit patients and children are highly discouraged from coming to the hospital unless for treatment. Only two (2) visitors per patient will be allowed at a time.
Admissions:
- When you are admitted to Colquitt Regional you will be given an admission book which contains information about our hospital. The information inside the admission book is your guide to our services.
- General visitation hours are 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.: OB & ICU will have special visiting hours. The visiting policy limits your guests to two at a time. No children under 12 years of age are allowed in patient areas.
- For your privacy, our switchboard will hold all calls to your room after 9:00 p.m.
- Valuables may be kept in a safe in our Emergency Room Registration area for your convenience. We do not store personal items (dentures, classes, etc.).
- A patient representative is available to answer questions or assist you with any concerns during your stay here. Dial 9266 if you wish to talk with him/her.
- There is a gift shop in the lobby. Volunteers will be glad to deliver gift shop items to patient rooms.
- We have a chaplain on call: private consultation by request. Notify your nurse if you desire his services.
- No electrical appliances may be brought into the hospital unless checked and approved by our maintenance department.
- Our hospital has a “No Smoking” policy. Refer to a handbook.
- On discharge, you will be assisted as needed.
- Please take special note of your rights and responsibilities as noted in the admission book under A Patient’s Bill of Rights & Responsibilities, page 5.
- Advanced Directive Inquiries are required by law and will be discussed with you on admission, and further by your nurse.
Nursing:
- The nursing staff will explain the use of the call light, bed control and TV.
- The nursing staff will explain how to get towels, soap, more ice, water, juice, etc.
- Your diet is ordered by a physician. For regular, soft or 4gm Sodium diet, you may select your meals each morning for the next day. A dietician is on staff to answer any questions/requests.
- Your medical care is prescribed by your physician. Any medication or special requests must be approved by him/her. You may find it helpful to make notes to discuss with him/her during his/her daily visit. Expect to see your doctor at least once a day depending on your needs and his/her routine. If there is an emergency need for your doctor, the nurse will notify him/her.
- Patient Education is available via closed circuit TV on channel 2. A program guide is located in the top drawer of the bedside table.
- We hope you will complete your patient questionnaire before or upon your discharge from the hospital. Ask your nurse or ask the patient representative if you need help with this.
