Physical Therapy

We have a uniquely qualified staff to provide a full range of services.  Our goal is to assist the patient in regaining their strength, flexibility and endurance.  Physical therapy can be extremely beneficial to all age groups and directly impacts one’s function and well-being.

Conditions most often treated by physical therapy are neurological and orthopedic conditions such as:

Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy is available to patients of all ages, whose ability to function independently in daily life have been disrupted by an illness, injury, development problems, or aging process.   Our highly trained therapists utilize therapeutic exercises and function activities to strengthen and enhance one’s ability.

Conditions benefited by occupational therapy include, but not limited to:

Speech-Language Pathology

We take pride in offering the most comprehensive Speech Pathology Service within the South Georgia / North Florida region. One of only three hospitals in North America to offer Scientific Learning products.

We provide a warm, friendly environment whose mission is to serve people of all ages. Comprehensive services are provided for rehabilitative needs in the areas of communication, executive brain functions, language, reading, learning, feeding and swallowing. Both medical and educational needs are dealt with on an individual basis.

Conditions assessed and effectively treated by our therapists include:

Aquatic therapy

Aquatic therapy or pool therapy consists of an exercise program that is performed in the water. It is a beneficial form of therapy that is useful for a variety of medical conditions. One benefit of aquatic therapy is the buoyancy provided by the water. While submerged in water, buoyancy assists in supporting the weight of the patient. This decreases the amount of weight bearing which reduces the force of stress placed on the joints. This aspect of aquatic therapy is especially useful for patients with arthritis and healing fractured bones.

The Learning Center

The Learning Center provides individuals a program to develop and strengthen one’s memory, attention, and cognitive skills. Through the Fast ForWard computerized program, along with a plan of care monitored by our therapists, individuals of all ages have proven to be better readers, and have increased their learning capabilities significantly.

The Learning Center may benefit individuals, who are:

Vereen Rehabilitation Center is named after Moultrie’s Vereen family. Since the 1930’s, the Vereen family has supported the medical community of Colquitt County. When the Public Works Administration approved a funding request for the construction of a new hospital in Moultrie contingent upon the community matching the request, Mr. W.C. Vereen stepped forward and began a grass roots campaign for the community to match his personal donation of $50,000. This community matched his gift, and Vereen Memorial Hospital was built in 1939. Today, the Vereen family still values access to quality healthcare in our county. Barbara Bunn Vereen served selflessly on the Hospital Authority Board from 1985 thru 1999 and held the position as Chairperson on the Quality Assurance Committee. Chairman W. Jerry Vereen, Chairman of the Vereen family foundation, and The Community Welfare Association have generously committed to support our Medical Foundation in its efforts to ensure quality healthcare and physician access close to home for future generations. Other trustees on the Community Welfare Association are Barbara Bunn Vereen, Harvey Bunn Vereen, and Lisa Vereen Zeanah.
