CRMC Replaces IV Units
Colquitt Regional Medical Center replaced all of its IV pumps on Wednesday with new state-of-the-art units that are designed to prevent medication errors and promote the hospital’s best practices guidelines.
The new units, called Guardrails Suite MX, are designed to give the health care worker flexibility in its usage. Rather than one integrated unit, the new devices have a control panel, called the “brain,” to which users can connect up to four different IV channels. Colquitt Regional purchased 82 control panels and 125 modules.
“It’s all about improving patient care,” said Terry Jackson, RN, Colquitt Regional’s education director said.
Colquitt Regional’s health care workers have been preparing for the switchover to the new IV system since March.
