Hospital Receives $250,000 DeLoache Grant
Brooks Sheldon, Hospital Authority Chairman, DW Adcock, MD, Foundation Chairman and other Hospital Authority members gathered with DeWitt Drew, President and CEO of Southwest Georgia Bank, Jeff Hanson, EVP and Chief Banking Officer, and Geraldine Luff, Senior Vice President and Trust Officer, to accept a pledge on behalf of the Colquitt Regional Medical Foundation. The Foundation has been awarded a $250,000 grant by the Waldo DeLoache Charitable Trust. The grant provides $50,000 per year for five years for a major hospital expansion scheduled to get under way later this year.
The trust was established in the will of the late Waldo DeLoache for the purpose of providing funds to worthwhile community organizations.
“Colquitt Regional Medical Center is grateful to the DeLoache Trust Fund for contributing this gift of $250,000,” said Jim Matney, President and CEO of Colquitt Regional Medical Center. “These funds will be used for the hospital’s new rehabilitation project as well as the hospital expansion which includes the emergency department, surgical services, the intensive care unit and conversion to all private rooms.”
The hospital renovation and expansion will be preceded by construction of a physical rehabilitation unit on the hospital campus at the intersection of the Veterans Parkway and 31st Avenue S.E. Construction of the rehab unit will begin this spring.
Expansion and renovation of the hospital will include:
· An expansion of the emergency room to include 20 to 27 emergency bays, multiple nursing stations and an “R-deck,” which is an area where patients waiting for diagnostic testing results can stay without occupying the ER rooms.
· Renovation and expansion of the intensive care unit to include 12 ICU rooms and 28 private rooms to serve as a “step-down unit” for patients who leave surgery or intensive care unit but still require constant monitoring.
· Construction of six surgical units to handle both inpatient and outpatient surgery.
· Expansion of the present hospital to accommodate 60 all-private patient rooms.
· Reorganization of units for efficiency and to allow for more patient privacy.
· Renovation and expansion of the main entrance to create an open mall, visitor welcome station, coffee shop and gift shop.
