In keeping with its philosophy of providing the most current technology for patient care,ColquittRegionalMedicalCenterrecently upgraded its Surgical Video Systems to high-definition for the operating room.
The HD cameras and monitors, together with specialized lenses that can be inserted through small openings in the body, will provide sharper, clearer, more detailed images of vital structures during surgery.
The new equipment is being used by virtually every surgical specialty at Colquitt Regional. Laparoscopic procedures include cholecystectomy (gall bladder removal), appendectomy, colon resection and adjustable gastric banding procedures, such as Lap-Band. Many gynecological procedures are also performed laparoscopically, including laparoscopic assisted vaginal hysterectomy (LAVH), tubal ligation, treatment of ovarian cysts and ectopic pregnancy (tubal pregnancy).
Orthopedic surgeons use arthroscopes to view and work inside joints such as knees, shoulders, hips, ankles and wrists, while ENT surgeons treat sinus issues using the HD video equipment.
