Dominy Re-elected to GHA
Durwood Dominy, who has served on the Colquitt County Hospital Authority for 17 years, was re-elected to serve on the Georgia Hospital Association Board of Trustees at the association’s annual convention Feb. 3.
Dominy, who has served two terms as Hospital Authority chairman, is serving his third term on the GHA board. He also serves as the trustee chairman of a GHA initiative called “Moving Georgia to the Top 10.”
“It is an honor that I have been elected by the Georgia Hospital Association members to serve on the board for the third time,” Dominy said. “Serving on the GHA board offers a great opportunity to stay abreast of the ever-changing medical world. It allows me to meet and share information with hospital CEOs from all over Georgia. It also puts me in contact with AHA (American Hospital Association) representatives in Washington. There are many challenges facing hospitals and physicians today and it is important that we continue to seek ways to provide the best quality of care at the least cost.”
Jim Lowry, president and CEO of Colquitt Regional, said representation on the state board is important to Colquitt Regional.
“Colquitt Regional is very proud of Mr. Dominy,” he said. “Serving on the GHA board gives him an insight to the many problems facing hospitals and physicians today. As a board member of Colquitt Regional, this knowledge is instrumental in our continuous strategic planning for our facility and the medical needs of our citizens. I personally want to thank Mr. Dominy for taking the time to serve and continue the giving of his talents and skills.”
Dominy, who was co-owner of McKellar Motor Co. in Moultrie before retiring in 2000, is currently associated with Westfield Mortgage and Finance.
